So today I leave the house with camera in tow. On my way home I stop off at one of my favorite places to shoot hoping to catch the setting sun, and what happened? I left my memory card back at the house. Dam-it! Well I shot this a couple of days ago so I thought I would go ahead an share.

What I like about this image is the Montana feel or just the wide open spaces with the blue sky’s, rolling hills and puffy white clouds. Well I actually shot it in Murrieta, CA.

Something about this post and it’s decay just begged to be photographed. I really like the old barbed wire against the new non-barbed wire and the burn marks. This post has seen many years out in the open and still supports the fence. Solid for sure. That rust red just sings to me – love it. Photographed at the Santa Rosa Plateau, Murrieta, CA.

I love the Santa Rosa Plateau. It is such a cool place in the spring. The Reserve consists of 8,300 acres and protects unique ecosystems like Engelmann oak woodlands, riparian wetlands, coastal sage scrub, chaparral, bunchgrass prairie and vernal pools. It’s a great place to spend the morning for a nice hike or take the kids for a walk.

This morning I took a short walk before breakfast and really enjoyed the sunrise. Just gorgeous! I was spending time in San Diego on business and man I wished I had brought a tri-pod with me. The night before, I tried a few shots with the camera balanced on my truck of the San Diego skyline; still working on them. If they turn out, I’ll post a few.

I tried a new technique that I had read about, which was dropping down my f-stop a couple of stops. I think it really helped with the overall image. The colors are richer and the sky has more contrast. I had to bump it up a bit in post, but overall, I like it.

Today was one of those days when I ran out of the house at 6:45 am in the rain on my way to a meeting. I had about a 30-mininute drive to the meeting and I was thinking the entire time that after the meting I wanted to head over to the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve and photograph Oak tree’s in the foothills. I knew it would would be a good day to create a few images in the fog and rain – BUT guess what? The camera was left at home – S*#t!

I hate when I do this and I really considered turning around and going back for the camera. If the meeting wasn’t work related, I would have turned around. Now the skies are clear and boring – oh well. Here are a couple of shots from last spring out at the Reserve.
